Outperformance Option ATM Partition features a camouflage like pattern of 'semi-distracting' privacy film embedded in customized steel and glass dividers designed for ATM privacy. The two way film is printed on one side with an image of a mixed salad and on the other with 'textures' from several artist peer's works, lifted from the the ubiquitous art blog "Contemporary Art Daily". Both sides represent a 'perfect portfolio' – the mixed salad as the ideal mix for healthy nutrition and the Contemporary Art Daily artist as the perfect collection of young art. The piece is an expression of a sort of paranoid competition between young artists, the obsession with developing a marketable 'original style' while relying on the classic risk-management strategy, 'the safety of the herd'.

The work is part of the series Exotic Options that explores the logic of transactional spaces, and the ever-present glass and steel architecture of modern construction. We conceived of these spaces as executing large scale computations, of people, capital and energy. Analogously the window films are also performing some sort of natural computation on the light and information passing through them. The semi-privacy becomes a semi-informational awareness, the snippet of a peers artwork as an operation in value-creating referencing and criticism. The patterns are generated through an automated photoshop filter process, which again reinforces the theme of computation and customization. We set the variables for the metal and glass shapes, the number of layers of film and then we can somewhat "randomize" the details and create endless unique, bespoke, custom editions, satisfying the demand for novel and original work, but through a mechanical and automatic procedure.
