Davide Allieri’s TX9KD-Pod works stand as enigmatic remnants of a futuristic aviation crash, cast in semi-translucent fiberglass. These sculptures pose as both relics and devices, hovering in a state of indeterminacy, reinforced by the fragility of the material and the brutality of the subject matter. The mechanics and fixtures, such as ports, tubes, and wires emerging from the fiberglass leading to nowhere, perhaps trace back to the aircraft from which they have been snatched. The trailing elements of these works evoke a sense of biological anatomy, transforming mechanical components into imagined innards that hint at a larger, unseen structure.

Inspired by sci-fi movies and military technology, particularly defensive and surveillance systems, Allieri’s pieces embody a narrative of speculative technology and lost futures. His ‘POD-Capsula’ project, which will be showcased at the Triennale Museum in Milan, further explores this theme with a full-scale vehicle designed for hypothetical planetary escape. In presenting the pod seats separately, Allieri creates a narrative connection that links these works as chapters in a broader story, redefining the relic as a vessel for future possibilities and blurring the boundaries between science, fiction, and function.
