With the FOCUS series, Anna Uddenberg continues to explore social conventions and norms that result from a culture of consumption. She challenges ingrained ways of thinking and seeing as well as ideas of comfort and security. Her interest in femme as figuration is geared towards exploring power dynamics in the service domain. The FOCUS pieces are antisocial and despite their snug materials, they are made to make one feel uncomfortable to challenge the idea of femininity as docile and subservient to reveal what happens when these roles are amplified and over-performed to a degree of uncanny absurdity.
